Description: TrueCrypt is a computer program for On-the-fly encryption. It allows you to create a virtual encrypted logical disk stored as a file. TrueCrypt can also be used to fully encrypt a hard disk partition or other storage media such as a floppy disk or USB flash drive. All stored data in a TrueCrypt volume is fully encrypted, including file and directory names. A mounted TrueCrypt volume is similar to a regular logical disk, so you can work with it using the usual file system check and defragmentation utilities.

Unofficial archive of previous releases: http://www.truecrypt.ch/.
Veracrypt: Popular fork (continued) project: https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Home.html.

Additional information: On May 29, 2014 on the developer’s website suddenly appeared a message that the development of the program is discontinued. At the same time all versions of the program were removed, except for the “new” v7.2, in which the code for creating new crypto-containers was removed, and thus it is suitable only for decrypting already existing storages. Because of this, there was a problem with obtaining a reliable version of the program. This handout contains the latest “real” version of the program. Authenticity can be verified using signatures (.sig files), and the TrueCrypt Foundation key. You can check the validity of the key by searching the Internet for truecrypt FAQs and HOW-TOs, which usually contain the fingerprint of the key. In addition, the Windows executable is signed with the X.509 key, with a verifiable signature date. Instructions for verifying the signature are in the file “TrueCrypt User Guide.pdf”, which is in the source code archive.

The distribution includes executables for all supported platforms, source code archive, signature files and TrueCrypt Foundation PGP/GPG key.
